CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — City council has unanimously approved a $1 million tender to decommission the sewage lagoon in the neighbourhood of East Royalty.

The bid was awarded to Island Coastal Services Ltd. while WSP estimates the engineering oversight for the project will cost about $69,000.

This is all a part of a project that will see the lagoon shut down and the sewage pumped to the city’s treatment plant on Riverside Drive.

The lagoon would then be filled in and turned into green space.
