CORNWALL, P.E.I. - Gary Ramsay, current deputy mayor and semi-retired local businessman, has announced his intention to seek a second term on Cornwall Town Council when the municipal election is held on Nov. 5.
Ramsay has been a Cornwall resident for more than 40 years with wife Cathy (Sherren) and together they have raised four children, Chris, Mark, Kyle and Ellen.
In addition to his current role as deputy mayor, he serves as chairman of administration, vice-chairman of planning and utilities and the town's representative with Citizens on Patrol.
A former entrepreneur, Ramsay has recently retired from his role with the local APM Centre and has served as past-president of North River Minor Hockey, as well as a former executive with Softball P.E.I.
If elected, Ramsay’s priorities on council will include the proper planning and execution of the Main Street design and spatial plan, greater access to affordable housing options for Cornwall seniors and families, and to work in co-operation with Cornwall RCMP for increased traffic and speeding enforcement.
