The Community Foundation of P.E.I. (CFPEI) has announced the appointment of Jonathan Ross as president of the board of directors.

He previously served as vice-president and chairman of the investment committee.

Ross is a director of wealth management with Richardson GMP and a partner with Cudmore Ross Wealth Management, a specialized team within the larger firm of Richardson GMP.

Ross, who has a bachelor of business administration degree from UPEI, has achieved numerous industry certifications and most recently is a graduate of the Securities Institute at the Wharton School of Business.

In addition to his community work with the community foundation, Ross is a Paul Harris fellow in Rotary, a former national director with the Heart and Stroke Foundation and president of the Charlottetown Executive Association.

The new board also includes Jeff MacKenzie vice-president; Dennis Carver, treasurer; Rhonda MacPhee, secretary; and John Robinson, past-president. Returning directors include Tracey Laughlin, Pam Borden and George Webster. New directors are Alfred Arsenault, Cheryl Paynter, Glenn Trueman and Derek Bondt. Retiring board members are Heather Tedford, Giselle Bernard and Tom Davies.

Davies is a founding director who served in many roles over the years and can be credited with helping to bring the foundation from a simple charitable vision to its current position.

Now in its 26th year, the CFPEI currently manages 85 individual funds with a combined value of close to $12 million and distributes scholarships and grants to all corners of the community in arts and culture, education, health, social services and the environment.

CFPEI works with its donors to realize their philanthropic goals, matching their interests with the needs of the community.
