CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - City workers damaged part of Charlottetown’s boardwalk by driving on it with a truck, says Coun. Greg Rivard.
During the Tuesday, Oct. 9 council meeting, Rivard raised the issue, saying he received several complaints about damage to part of the boardwalk.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Rivard said the damage has caused a tripping hazard and he was told a few people have tripped.
He also said only a few boards were broken.
“I don’t think it’s a huge cost, but it’s an unnecessary cost so I don’t think we need to have any kind of city vehicle driving on the boardwalks,” he said.
Rivard also told council he saw a city truck drive across the grass on municipal property in West Royalty during a recent rainstorm.
That truck damaged the grass, Rivard said.
