CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Charlottetown’s tourism officer had a couple of updates during the recent economic development, tourism and events management committee meeting.
Laurel Lea inquired whether the mayor’s office would be reinstating the Citizen Recognition Awards this year following an election year hiatus last year.
Mayor Philip Brown confirmed the awards would be reinstated and noted the awards criteria is being evaluated.
The awards will be handed out as part of the city’s Natal Day activities during the first week of August.
Lea also informed the committee that the visitor information centre is open on a limited schedule with the arrival of the first cruise ship of the season. The centre will begin operating full-time basis beginning June 3 and will be open the same hours as City Hall.
