Charlottetown residents and businesses are reminded that the spring annual rain barrel sale will end on May 25 or while supplies last.

Rain barrels are designed to collect rainwater from existing downspouts.

The city’s rain barrels can hold 208 litres of water. Multiple barrels can be added together to increase storage capacity, especially for residents and businesses who consume larger amounts of water for outdoor needs. Water used from rain barrels is not subject to the seasonal water restrictions that will come into effect on June 1.

Rain barrels can be pre-purchased for $65, including HST, until May 25 – while supplies last. They will be available for pick-up on May 26 at the city works garage on MacAleer Drive between 9 a.m. and noon. Those who purchased a rain barrel are reminded to bring their receipt on pick up day and that pick up is only available in the morning on May 26.

All residents and business owners in Charlottetown are eligible to purchase up to three rain barrels. To purchase a rain barrel, visit the Water and Sewer Utility Department at City Hall on Queen Street.
