A traffic advisory has been issued with the following impacts expected for today:

  • Sidewalk and Curbing work is scheduled to take place in the following areas (for the week of Sept. 14-18):
  • Belvedere Avenue between North River Road and Queen Street;
  • Weymouth Street between Grafton and Sydney streets;
  • Arcona Drive between Pope and Messer avenues;
  • Messer Avenue between Arcona and Yorkshire drives.

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. —
Street line painting is expected to occur at the intersection of Mount Edward Road and Towers Road between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. Lane closures may occur, but traffic control personnel will be on site to maintain traffic flow.


Tree maintenance is schedule to take place in the following areas today):

  • Prince Street between Dorchester and King streets between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. will be reduce to one lane and sidewalks in the work area will be closed.
  • Prince Street between Fitzroy and Kent streets between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. will be reduced to one lane and sidewalks in the work area will be closed.
  • Queen Street between Newland Crescent and Nassau Street between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. will be reduced to one lane and sidewalks in the area will be closed.
  • Mount Edward Road between Deblois Street and Palmers Lane between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. will be reduced to one lane and sidewalks in the work area will be closed.

Traffic control personnel will be on site to maintain traffic flow and assist pedestrians. Drivers may want to seek alternate routes.


UPEI road extension work will be taking place for the week Sept. 14-18. This work consists of the expansion of the University Avenue and Enman Crescent (south) intersection, including the widening of the roadway and work on the median. Only minor traffic delays are expected, and traffic control personnel will be on site. Pedestrians are advised to use the sidewalk on the UPEI side of University Avenue as heavy equipment will be on the opposite side of the road relocating the sidewalk.


Traffic flow on the Victoria Park Roadway may be briefly interrupted in the morning. Part of the gangway of the floating dock is being removed as a precaution due to forecasted high winds from the southwest. The work to remove the gangway may temporarily halt traffic on the roadway for a short period of time. Once the winds subside, as expected in the next few days, the gangway will be replaced for the remainder of the season.


Royalty Road between Donald Drive and Upton Road will be closed for the day to install water and sewer utility services.
