CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — McCarville Street between Upton Road and Hillstrom Avenue will be closed for the day for street paving and motorists are advised to seek alternate routes. 

Street line painting will take place at the intersection of Brackley Point Road and St. Peter’s Road between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. Lane closures may occur, but traffic control personnel will be on site to maintain traffic flow. 

Sidewalk and curbing work are scheduled to take place in the following areas (for the week of September 21 - 25):  

  • Weymouth Street between Grafton and Sydney streets
  • Richmond Street between Pownal and Queen streets 
  • Kent Street between West and Rochford streets 
  • Dorchester Street between Haviland and Pownal streets 
  • Arcona Drive between Pope and Messer avenues 
  • Messer Avenue between Arcona and Yorkshire drives 
  • Beach Grove Road between Kirkcaldy Drive and Maypoint Road 

Tree maintenance is scheduled to take place in the following areas: 

  • Queen Street between Newland Crescent and Nassau Street will be reduced to one lane between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. and the sidewalk on the construction side will be closed.  
  • Mount Edward Road between Deblois Street and Palmers Lance will be reduced to one lane between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. and he sidewalk on the construction side will be closed while work is being conducted.  

Traffic control personnel will be on site to assist with vehicle and pedestrian flow. 

Work will be taking place on Beach Grove Road, from the corner of Maypoint Road towards the Beach Grove Home. Traffic may be reduced to one lane alternating throughout the day. These delays are necessary for the construction of the active pathway along Beach Grove Road that will connect to a trail near the Beach Grove Home. This work is expected to be ongoing for the next several weeks. 

UPEI road extension work will be taking place for the week September 21 – 25. This work consists of the expansion of the University Avenue and Enman Crescent (south) intersection, including the widening of the roadway and work on the median. Only minor traffic delays are expected and traffic control personnel will be on site. Pedestrians are advised to use the sidewalk on the UPEI side of University Avenue as heavy equipment will be on the opposite side of the road relocating the sidewalk.
