CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A traffic advisory has been issued with the following impacts expected for Wednesday, July 24:
Line painting
Line and arrow painting may take place on University Avenue, between Connolly Street and Belvedere Avenue, weather permitting. Traffic delays should be expected in the area, including possible one lane, alternating traffic, between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Tree removals
Tree removals are planned to take place in the following areas:
- Grafton Street, between Queen Street and Pownal Street
- Lapthorn Avenue, between Birchwood Street and Longworth Avenue
- Parkview Drive, between High Street and Christie Drive
- Parkview Drive, between Belvedere Avenue and Park Royal Crescent
Work is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Traffic delays should be expected in these areas, including possible one lane, alternating traffic. Heavy equipment, personnel and flaggers will be on site.
Water and sewer
There will be a lane closure (outbound lane) on Capital Drive, between Sandstone Road and Lower Malpeque Road, to allow the Water and Sewer Utility to repair a leak. The lane closure will begin at 7 a.m. and traffic heading out of Charlottetown will be detoured. This lane closure is expected to be in place for the full day.
Roundabout work
Work continues on the Northridge Parkway and Route Two roundabout. Starting Wednesday, July 24, traffic will be routed through the temporary detour road (two lanes inbound and one lane outbound) for the remainder of the project. Additional traffic advisories will be issued throughout the project. Work on the roundabout is expected to be complete by the first of September.
Road closures will be in place on Norwood Road, closed between Oak Drive and St. Peters Road, and on Northridge Parkway, closed between Andrews Court and St. Peters Road. There will be no access onto Norwood Road or Northridge Parkway from St. Peters Road. Local traffic will have access through alternate routes into Hillsborough Park and properties off of Norwood Road. These closures will be in effect for 2-3 weeks.
T3 Transit bus services will not be impacted. Stops will remain at current locations.
Sidewalks
Sidewalk work will take place in the following areas (for the week – July 22 - 26):
- Pleasant Street, between Euston Street and Longworth Avenue
- Cumberland Street, between Grafton Street and Dorchester Street
