The process of replacing Charlottetown Deputy Police Chief Gary McGuigan has begun.
McGuigan retired from the force on June 1 following 34 years.
Police Chief Paul Smith recently informed city’s council’s protective and emergency services committee that, pending its approval, a staff justification form will be prepared and forwarded to human resources to begin the hiring process.
Meanwhile, there have been some changes at Charlottetown Police Services.
Sgt. Chris Watts has been promoted to professional standards officer, while Cpl. Jennifer McCarron has been promoted to sergeant and will be in charge of the patrol Watts previously looked after.
