Charlottetown police respond to several complaints of assaults on Victoria Day

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A 44-year-old Alberta man has been charged with assault after Charlottetown police responded to a domestic violence complaint May 20 at 9:44 p.m.

He has been released on conditions.

About an hour later, at 10:42 p.m., police responded to an assault occurrence at a local business on Kent Street.

Two suspects were located and arrested, both were intoxicated and face several charges.

A-21-year old Nova Scotia man has been charged with assault and resisting arrest.

The second man, a 26-year-old Alberta resident, has been charged with assault.

At 10:45 p.m., a 38-year-old Charlottetown man was arrested and taken into custody after police responded to another domestic violence complaint.

The man was on conditions to have no contact with the female from a previous incident.

He also had two outstanding warrants for his arrest.

The investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending.

Police will attempt to remand the accused.
