Charlottetown police issue more than 120 speeding tickets in August

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Charlottetown police cracked down on speeders in August.

According to statistics released by Charlottetown Police Services at the recent monthly meeting of council, officers issued 128 fines.

That compared to the 108 speeding tickets issued the month before.

The hotspot was University Avenue, between Belvedere Avenue and Spencer Drive, where officers issued fines to 43 drivers.

Motorists were also exceeding the speed limit on Lower Malpeque Road where 21 fines were handed out.

Coming in third was a tie between Brackley Point Road and Fourth Street, which connects the West Royalty Industrial Park with the bypass highway. Eighteen fines were handed out at each location.

Rounding out the top five were Upton Road (six fines issued) and Winsloe Road (five fines issued).
