Charlottetown police charge three residents with impaired driving

Charlottetown Police Services responded to 11 possible impaired driving complaints over the weekend. Three have resulted with charges being laid.

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A 40-year-old Stratford woman faces charges after police responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Grafton Street Nov. 20 at 9:45 p.m.

Police located the vehicle and determined the driver showed signs of impairment by alcohol. She was arrested and provided breath samples almost four times the legal limit.

The woman was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in provincial court at a later date.
 

A few hours later, at 12:15 a.m. Nov. 21, a 34-year-old Charlottetown man was charged after officers responded to a vehicle/pedestrian collision that occurred on Euston Street.

The injuries to the pedestrian were minor and did not require a hospital visit.

Officers determined the driver was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

He was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in provincial court at a later date.


A 43-year-old Charlottetown man was charged after police responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Nassau Street Nov. 22 at 9:30 a.m.

Police located the vehicle in a parking lot on Belvedere Avenue with the driver still in it and determined he showed signs of impairment by alcohol.

He was arrested and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in provincial court at a later date.
