CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The City of Charlottetown is close to moving to the next step of building a third fire station.
A resolution was set to come to the floor at council’s regular monthly meeting recently but was pulled off the agenda.
The resolution would have seen council award the tender for design consulting services. However, Coun. Alanna Jankov, former chairwoman of council’s standing committee on strategic priorities and intergovernmental co-operation committee, said more information was needed before the resolution was passed.
Coun. Kevin Ramsay, the new chairman of the committee, said the matter came up at a recent closed session of council but all he would say is discussions are ongoing.
A third station will be built in the West Royalty neighbourhood. The city paid $870,000 for a 4.5-acre parcel of land on Malpeque Road, between the Atlantic Cat dealership and Moore Well and Drilling Inc.
