CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Charlottetown Mayor Philip Brown doesn’t want to see political signage in the city’s parks.
At Wednesday’s meeting of the parks and recreation committee, Brown said one of the federal political party candidates had put up a 4x8-foot campaign sign in Kings Heritage Square.
The mayor said he got a call from another political party saying if one candidate is doing it they should be allowed to as well.
“They should be told to take it out,’’ Brown said in reference to the sign that is currently up. “(Signs) shouldn’t be in the public parks.’’
The mayor noted that municipal candidates were not permitted to advertise in the four heritage parks during last November’s civic election.
Frank Quinn, manager of parks and recreation, said he would consult with the planning department over the issue.
