CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A 41-year-old Charlottetown man is facing charges after a witness told police he assaulted someone Friday night.

While investigating another matter at a business on June 26, Charlottetown police were flagged down by a passerby who said he had just witnessed a woman being assaulted.

Officers located a woman nearby who sustained minor injuries to her face.

The investigation led police to arrest the woman’s boyfriend a few hours later.

The man, who was charged with assault, was released from custody with conditions to have no contact with the woman and will appear in provincial court at a later date.
