Charlottetown man charged with impaired driving after flipping car on side

A 65-year-old woman, who police say was drunk, lost control of her vehicle and struck three parked vehicles in Charlottetown Thursday morning.

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A 49-year-old Charlottetown man has been charged with drunk driving.

At about 2:15 a.m., Charlottetown police responded to a single vehicle collision on the Arterial Highway (near Southgate Lane).

Police located a vehicle on its side with the lone male driver inside.

Charlottetown Fire Department assisted with extracting the uninjured driver from the vehicle.

Police determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

The driver has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in provincial court at a later date.
