CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Charlottetown’s public works department is looking to upgrade the street lighting on Queen Street, between Grafton and Richmond streets.
Currently, the existing light fixtures are overhead lamps on aluminum poles, which are the only overhead lamps of this style left in the downtown vicinity and don’t match the lighting on the rest of Queen Street in the downtown core.
So, the department is looking to replace the five existing overhead street lights on the west side of the block with old fashioned-style lamps and install five new old fashioned street lights on the east side of the street in order to provide an acceptable amount of lighting on the street block.
The estimated cost of the project is $95,000 and includes the procurement of decorative poles, five new concrete bases, new electrical infrastructure and removal of the existing lights.
