CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Charlottetown city council has approved an application for water and sewer services to 484 and 488 Brackley Point Rd., even though it’s outside the city boundary.

It is the city’s policy that applications for water service not be provided to properties outside the municipal boundaries without council’s approval.

Council agreed to the application on the condition that the property owner pays all costs associated with servicing the site and that the owner will be billed with a 25 per cent premium as a surcharge, which is standard practice.

It was one of three resolutions council passed that were related to water and sewer. Council also accepted the proposal for engineering services from CBCL Ltd. in the amount of $423,292 for the second phase of upgrades at the pollution control plant on Riverside Drive.

In addition, Precision Mechanical Inc. has been awarded the tender for upgrades to the pressure reducing valve between the high pressure system and the low pressure system at the Miltonvale wellfield.

Precision Mechanical Inc. was the low bidder at $80,270. Bevan Brothers also bid on the project, coming in at $102,005.
