CAVENDISH, P.E.I. — Another year and another successful Cavendish Beach Music Festival is officially in the books, says the festival’s organizer.
The annual concert series took place July 5 to 7 and featured 51 musicians, including headliners Carrie Underwood, Eric Church and Hunter Hayes.
Jeff Squires, president of festival organizer Whitecap Entertainment, said this year’s event had been going great as of Sunday afternoon.
“It’s been a tremendous, tremendous year.”
There were a variety of weather conditions over the weekend but that didn’t stop country music fans from making the most of things, he said.
“We had a little bit of heat, little bit of wind, little bit of rain. I think people that come to festivals know weather is all part of it. I think it’s just part of that overall experience.”
He said, over the years, the festival has become a collaborative effort between Whitecap Entertainment, the province, the resort municipality and service providers across P.E.I.
“CMBF has turned into a real high-level joint project.”
While the festival was still in its final day when Squires spoke with The Guardian, he estimated about 50 to 60 thousand people went through the gates over the three days.
Squires wasn’t aware of any major mishaps over the weekend. The RCMP wasn’t able to respond because they were still on the scene, but according to their social media accounts they had a strong presence to make sure people were safe.
“As far as we’re concerned it’s been a great weekend,” Squires said.
