A P.E.I. man facing multiple charges after a standoff with police last week has consented to remain in custody until his next court date.

Ronald Douglas Gay, 43, did not appear before Judge Jeff Lantz in provincial court in Charlottetown Tuesday where his case was called.

Gay is facing charges of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm, mischief and uttering threats.

Defence lawyer Alex Dalton appeared in court on his behalf and said Gay consented to remain in custody until his next court appearance on Sept. 3.

Charlottetown police arrested Gay on Aug. 21 after a standoff that lasted several hours outside a building on Upper Hillsborough Street in Charlottetown.
