Charlottetown-Parkdale resident Ron Carragher is seeking the Progressive Conservative nomination for District 11, Charlottetown-Belvedere.

“I am very passionate about my community and I see the real challenges faced daily by our seniors, our youth and our families,” said Carragher. “I want to be the voice for District 11 that together with the strong leadership of Dennis King and the PC party will be able to offer the residents of District 11 a strong, viable and principled approach for positive change and growth.”

Carragher was born and raised in Emyvale but has lived in the District 11 area for over 37 years with his wife, Cindy, where they raised their sons Mark and Scott.

Carragher has been an educator on the Island for more than three decades and has spent the last 12 years as principal of Birchwood Intermediate School.

He received his bachelor of arts and bachelor of education degrees from UPEI and his masters of education degree from Saint Mary’s University.

Carragher had an accomplished minor hockey career and competed in national championships at the junior, intermediate, university and senior levels.

He has been an active community volunteer with several organizations and a former hockey coach.

Carragher feels his experience as a leader in education working with teachers, youth, their families and several municipal and provincial organizations gives him an understanding of the needs of the community.

The District 11 PC Nomination for Charlottetown-Belvedere will be held March 18 at Park Royal Church beginning at 6:30 p.m.
