UPDATE

Maritime Electric Ltd issued an advisory this evening of an emergency power outage affecting all Prince Edward Island communities west of Wellington. The outage will start at 9 p.m. and will last until approximately 1 a.m. The reason for the emergency outage is to allow utility personnel to replace a transmission line pole in Miscouche. A car with two occupants left Highway Two around 4:30 p.m. and struck the pole, breaking it about four meters above the ground. The power lines remained suspended on the damaged pole while emergency personnel worked to free the passenger from the car. The driver was able to get out of the wrecked crar on his own. Police, Island EMS paradedics and Miscouche Fire Department all responded to the collision.
