Prince Edward Island will host the Canada Winter Games in 2023.

The Island has swapped hosting duties with the Northwest Territories to bring the Games here earlier than scheduled. P.E.I. was originally slated to host the Games in 2031.

The announcement was made this morning in Summerside.

P.E.I. last hosted the Games in 2009 for the summer edition. Those Games left the Island with a legacy of new and improved facilities, enhanced volunteer resources, financial returns from more than 15,000 visitors, and $81.5 million in economic activity.
