A 61-year-old man is in critical condition after a collision with a dumptruck on Saturday morning.
At around 10:10 a.m., police responded to a call of a vehicle and pedestrian collision at the Charlottetown Port, said Const. Ron Kennedy with Charlottetown Police Services in a phone interview with The Guardian.
The dumptruck, which was in the process of collecting fertilizer, collided with the man.
"When police arrived, Island EMS where already there tending to the victim," said Kennedy. "The man, from Summerside, was taken immediately to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and remains in critical condition."
Family of the victim have been notified and police are currently still investigating the incident, interviewing witnesses and examining video from security cameras around the port.
The driver of the truck is shaken, but ok, said Kennedy.
Kennedy said police will provided an update to the collision and condition of the man later this week.
