CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A P.E.I. man who repeatedly had contact with a woman when he was supposed to stay away from her was sentenced recently to 20 days in jail.

Anthony John MacDougall, 56, won’t serve any more time in custody after getting credit for time served after his arrest.

MacDougall appeared before Judge John Douglas in provincial court in Charlottetown where he pleaded guilty to damaging property and breaching an undertaking.

The court heard MacDougall was on an undertaking with a condition he stay away from the woman while under the influence, which he breached multiple times.

MacDougall also snapped the woman’s cellphone in half.

He will be on probation for one year and must pay $350 in restitution for the outstanding amount on the woman’s cellphone contract that she still has to pay even though she doesn’t have the broken phone.
