CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A P.E.I. woman who pleaded guilty to attempted murder will be back in court in May for sentencing after a judge adjourned her case Monday.
The woman made a brief appearance before Justice James Gormley in P.E.I. Supreme Court in Charlottetown where she was originally scheduled for sentencing.
Instead, Gormley adjourned the matter until May 29.
On Dec. 19, the woman pleaded guilty to attempted murder by administering a noxious substance, which court documents list as anti-anxiety medication Ativan.
The RCMP arrested the woman in August after responding to a 911 call and she has been remanded into custody.
A mental health assessment was also ordered.
During the woman’s appearance Monday, the court heard the Crown and defence were still having discussions about the sentencing.
Defence lawyer Thane MacEachern told the court he received some information last week that he wants to incorporate into his submissions.
A publication ban prevents the release of any details that could identify the victim.
