Now in its 32nd year of publication, the Rotary Club of Charlottetown Royalty’s annual advertising supplement will soon be reaching Island homes.

Distributed by The Guardian, the Eastern Graphic, selected Buzz locations, by mail to every business on P.E.I. and online at  theguardian.pe.ca/rotary, many Islanders look forward to this 100-page publication that showcases business and community groups across the province.

At a time when readers can use a distraction from the daily news of COVID-19, Islanders will have the opportunity to study the contents of this photographic journal that includes almost 2,000 smiling faces of business employees, friends and neighbours.

Shortly after the Rotary Club of Charlottetown Royalty was chartered in 1987, the membership, under the guidance of charter president Tom Wilkinson, decided that a major fundraising project was required to fund the many worthy projects that the club wished to support. The concept of selling photographic advertising to the greater business community was suggested by charter member John Barrett and seemed to capture the interest of the membership and board of directors.

The project began in a newspaper format with the entire publication being printed in sepia tone (brown and white). Over the years, the publication developed, and major changes such as page size, full colour printing and now, year-round availability online, have helped develop the Rotary supplement that will soon be reaching Islanders’ homes.

The Rotary Club of Charlottetown Royalty is proud to have distributed over $2 million in funding earned by the supplement to causes since its inception in 1988. The club acknowledges the support of Saltwire, the Eastern Graphic and, more recently, The Buzz in distributing the publication. Through their distribution networks, Rotary continues to provide its many readers with a comprehensive and enjoyable historic snapshot of Island life.
