The RCMP said a hops farmer in Alexandra, P.E.I., called to report a break in on Saturday after he allegedly saw three people near his farm buildings.
A woman and two men were arrested and allegedly told the police they thought there was marijuana growing on the farm.
They allegedly caused extensive damage to the hops crop that was packaged for shipping.

Warren Jesse Howatt, 23, made a brief appearance before Chief Judge Nancy Orr in provincial court in Charlottetown Monday where his case was adjourned.
He is facing several charges, including break and enter with intent, damaging property, theft of kitchen utensils and two breaches of undertakings.
Howatt remained in custody after his arrest.
Although he didn’t enter a plea, Howatt told Orr he planned to plead not guilty.
He also asked for a show cause hearing to argue for his release from custody.
“I don’t want to go back to jail,” he said.
Howatt was due back in court Tuesday for a show cause hearing and will return on Dec. 5.
The co-accused were released and will appear in court at a later date.
