CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Charlottetown firefighters responded to 53 emergency calls in February.

Thirty-four were handled by Station 1 on Kent Street.

Station 1 responded to four calls each related to an alarm ringing with no fire, an alarm ringing due to equipment malfunction, an alarm ringing because someone was working on the system and mutual aid. The station also responded to three chimney fires, three motor vehicle accident fires, one rescue and one call related to someone who was burning incense.

Station 2 in Sherwood responded to four calls where someone cooking set off an alarm and four motor vehicle accidents.
