CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - Emmy-Award-winning entertainers, Imagination Movers, will bring their high-energy, interactive live music act to the Jack Frost Winterfest presented by Island Coastal, Feb. 15-18, in Charlottetown.

Hailed as the No. 1 rated major touring act for families based on fan reviews on Ticketmaster.com, the Movers will have the whole family dancing in the aisles with original music and an eclectic pop sensibility that is as much fun for parents as it is for kids. Over the last decade, Imagination Movers have entertained more than a million fans in North America, Europe and Asia. The Jack Frost Winterfest will be the group’s only appearance in the Maritime provinces.

Now in its 14th year, Jack Frost Winterfest is Atlantic Canada’s favourite family event and the largest winter festival east of Quebec City. Embrace the Canadian winter at Jack Frost’s Eastlink Outdoor Snow Kingdom, an interactive winter playground featuring snow and ice slides, a mountainous tube run and incredible ice sculptures by the Canadian Snow Sculpting Team. New this year, Jack Frost’s Eastlink Snow Kingdom will open on Islander Day - Monday, Feb. 18 - offering an extra day of outdoor family fun for weekend pass holders. John Cudmore, chairman of Jack Frost Winterfest, says the event continues to bring an essential bump to tourism providers during the shoulder winter tourism season.

“This premiere winter tourism product contributes in excess of 900 room nights alone in February, but the benefits don’t stop at accommodation providers — local restaurants, retailers, fuel providers and Confederation Bridge all experience the impact of Jack Frost families in what is often considered a slower visitation period.”

Charlottetown MP Sean Casey calls the event “a highlight of the winter season for families across the Atlantic region”.

Mike Duffy, deputy mayor of Charlottetown, agrees adding it gives residents and visitors a chance to enjoy live entertainment and high-quality activities inside and out.

In addition, says Economic Development and Tourism Minister Chris Palmer, it’s a great way for families to enjoy the outdoors.

It is a ‘fun for all ages’ event for the city,” says Dawn Alan, executive director, Downtown Charlottetown Inc.

“We hope everyone will join us as the Jack Frost Team transform the Charlottetown Events Grounds and Eastlink Centre into a winter thoroughfare, filled with activity. We are thankful to all who are making it possible through their sponsorships, support and enthusiasm, as we embark on what we hope will be the biggest and best family winter fest in all of Eastern Canada.”
