CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - Habitat for Humanity P.E.I. has teamed up with PEERS Alliance for its newest initiative – the Rainbow Build.
This volunteer project will bring together members of P.E.I.'s LGBTQ2+ community to help build a home for an Island family, beginning next summer.
Rainbow Build also aims to raise a discussion of housing issues faced by this community and recruit future Habitat partner families.
This will be the first Rainbow Build in Canada and only the third in North America.
Since its founding in 1996, Habitat for Humanity P.E.I. has provided 67 families with safe, decent and affordable housing across the Island, and is one of 54 affiliates of Habitat for Humanity Canada.
PEERS Alliance is a not-for-profit community-based organization that supports those living with and at risk for HIV, Hep C and all sexually transmitted infections in P.E.I. by offering a variety of programs and services targeted to diverse communities.
