Four members of a Stanley Bridge family escaped unharmed from a house fire Wednesday morning.
New London Fire Chief Alan Cole said the call came in at about 7:30 a.m.
Everyone that was in the home at the time made it out, and there were no injuries.
When firefighters arrived, there was heavy smoke coming out of the house’s second floor windows.
Cole reported that it was a difficult fire to fight as the home had a metal roof, which made reaching the second story and attic difficult.
New London Volunteer Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Kensington and New Glasgow departments.
Cole said the fire is believed to have started either in the basement or the flue, though he said the fire marshal was on scene investigating.
