The first case is a female under 19 years old in the Eastern Health region.

The second is a female in the Eastern Health region who is between 20 and 39 years old.

Both are residents of Newfoundland and Labrador who are close contacts of a previously reported travel related case. They are also members of the same household.

“The Department of Health and Community Services is reassuring the public that there is no risk to the school community as a result of these cases,” the news release said.

The third new case is travel related and is a female between 40 and 49 years old in the Eastern Health region. She is not a resident of Newfoundland and Labrador but came to the province from Alberta after being given a travel exemption.

The fourth new case is a female between 20 and 39 years old and in the Central Health region. The source of the infection for this case is currently being investigated and more information will be provided as it becomes available.

All four cases are self-isolating and contact tracing is ongoing.

An investigation into the source of infection for two cases reported on Friday, Dec. 4, are now being reported as travel related.

One case is a resident of Newfoundland and Labrador who returned from work in Alberta. The second case is not a resident but travelled to the province from Africa after being given a travel exemption.

There have been four recoveries in the Eastern Health region and one recovery in the Western Health region since Friday, Dec. 4.
