Dreamin’ of Spring

Friday, 7:30 p.m., Watermark Theatre, North Rustico

Watermark Theatre is thrilled to announce a spring concert, Dreamin’ of Spring, featuring two dynamic east coast artists. Meaghan Blanchard of P.E.I. and Gabrielle Papillon of N.S. Meaghan Blanchard and Gabrielle Papillon came together in 2017 as part of a Music P.E.I. songwriting project. Their pairing created a magic that the two felt so strongly about, they created a songwriting duo that continues on. They will each perform solo sets and then sing a couple of their co-written songs. The doors open at 7 p.m. with the show starting at 7:30 p.m. and goes until 9:30 p.m. Watermark Theatre has partnered with sponsor North Rustico Home Hardware Building Centre to present Dreamin’ of Spring. Desserts will be served at intermission, provided by creative North Rustico caterers, The Yellow House. Tickets are $22 (plus HST and fees) and are available at www.ticketwizard.ca.

Expo-Franco

Saturday, 12 p.m., The Guild, Charlottetown

La Fédération culturelle de l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard (FCIPE), in partnership with the Guild are proud to present the second edition of the Expo-Franco taking place from March 1st to 19th at the Guild art gallery in Charlottetown. In celebration of the 20th edition of the Rendez-vous de la Francophonie, la FCIPE has organized a visual arts exhibit aiming to promote the works of Acadian and francophone artists. This exhibit will take place throughout the celebrations that surround the Journée internationale de la francophonie on March 20th, an annual event celebrated worldwide to promote the French language and its diverse and multiple cultural expressions. The exhibit is a wonderful display of works from a variety of mediums including paintings, drawings, sculptures and photographs. The exhibit will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, and Saturday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. This pop-up style event provides a temporary cultural and francophone space right in the heart of downtown Charlottetown and will take place on all three Fridays during the celebrations of the Rendez-vous de la francophonie 2018.

Sugar Shack

Sunday, 2 p.m., Centre Belle-Alliance, Summerside

Come tickle your sweet tooth at the Centre Belle-Alliance. The annual Sugar Shack activity, organized by La Belle-Alliance, will take place this Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Centre Belle-Alliance in Summerside. Participants will get to make and eat maple syrup snow candy as well as numerous sugar treats made with maple syrup. There will also be activities for the whole family including games, music and a treasure hunt. While the activity is free, individuals are asked to confirm their presence in order to ensure that there will be enough sugar treats for everyone present. Sunday Series: Tunes on Tap!

Sunday 3 p.m., Copper Bottom Brewing, Montague

'Sunday Series: Tunes on Tap!' is a weekly event held every Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Copper Bottom Brewing. Hosted by Ward MacDonald, Tunes on Tap hopes to bring traditional Celtic music to the fine folks of Kings County on a regular basis and will feature new artists from across P.E.I., Atlantic Canada and beyond. Between the fiddles, piano, pipes and guitar, it will be sure to get your toes-a-tapping on Sunday afternoons! The lineup for March is as follows: March 18: Colin Grant and Ward MacDonald; March 25: Zakk Cormier & Ward MacDonald. Come as you are – The Sunday Series is cover-free and always will be!
