Firefighters were called to a house fire in St. John’s early Sunday afternoon.

When personnel from the Goulds Volunteer Fire Department arrived on scene on Main Road in Goulds, smoke was coming from the side of the home near the brick chimney.

Firefighters attacked the fire from inside and outside the home and brought the fire under control within minutes. St. John’s Regional Fire Department firefighters were also on scene assisting with the incident.

Platoon chief Dean Foley told The Telegram the fire spread from the chimney into the walls and eaves around the home’s fireplace.

He said the home received some fire, smoke and water damage in the living room and basement area and there were no injuries.
