Fired Walmart employee from Cornwall sentenced for stealing gift cards from the store

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A 49-year-old Cornwall woman was sentenced to 10 days in jail for stealing from her employer.

Donna Lynne Curtis pleaded guilty to stealing a number of iTunes gift cards from Walmart in Charlottetown between April 26 and June 13. The cards had a total value of $280.

Curtis was in charge of the cashiers at Walmart when she snatched the gift cards. She was fired from her job.

She was placed on 18-months probation and ordered to pay $280 in restitution. She must also pay $100 to the victims of crime fund and perform 30 hours of community service work.

The judge ordered Curtis to write a letter of apology to the store’s manager.
