BORDEN-CARLETON, P.E.I. - It will cost an extra three quarters for a typical vehicle to cross the Confederation Bridge beginning in the new year.
Effective Jan. 1, the cost for a two-axle vehicle to cross the bridge from P.E.I. to New Brunswick will be $47.75, an increase of 75 cents. Each additional axle will now cost $8.25, up 25 cents from the current amount.
Motorcycle fares will increase to $19 from $18.75, while cyclists will also be charged an extra 24 cents at $9.
There will be no change to the cost for pedestrians, which will remain at $4.50.
Strait Crossing Bridge Ltd. said the fare increases were determined in accordance with the Bridge Operating Agreement with the federal government.
