The City of Charlottetown will celebrate Heritage Day on Feb. 20.

The event will include the unveiling of an exhibit celebrating the history of Charlottetown’s energy and innovation and an awards ceremony to honour people or organizations in the community who have worked hard to preserve and celebrate municipal heritage.

The awards ceremony is at noon on the second floor of City Hall. All are welcome to attend, and light refreshments will be served.

For more information, call the planning and heritage department at 902-629-4158.

In recognition of the city’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas, Kathleen Stuart, one of the authors of the book “Time and A Place: An Environmental History of Prince Edward Island’’ and an environmental historian, will provide a brief talk on the history of Charlottetown’s energy milestones. Excerpts of the city’s exhibit, Heat, Lights and the Devil Wagon: A History of Energy and Innovation in Charlottetown, will also be on display.

Photos and excerpts from the exhibit will be featured on the city’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CityofCharlottetown and Twitter account beginning on Tuesday
