Charlottetown police say they are looking for the driver of a  taxi van that allegedly struck a woman crossing the street Thursday evening.

The woman told police she was walking across Ralden Avenue at St. Peters Road sometime between 5 and 5:30 p.m. Nov. 8, when she was struck by the van. Police say she was sent onto the bonnet of the van and rolled off as the vehicle came to a stop at the intersection. Once she stood up, the van drove away.

The van is described as being white, having a white tax light on the top, with cursive font writing on the side, and was driven by a white man who looked to be in his late 50s.

Police did not give an update on the severity of any injuries the woman may have suffered after being hit.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact police at 902-629-4172 or P.E.I. Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
