Charlottetown firefighters respond to 43 calls

One of the calls the Charlottetown Fire Department responded to during the storm was at 294 University Ave. A call came in at 6:55 p.m. that there was an active fire on a rooftop, but firefighters found nothing and deemed it to be a false alarm.

The Charlottetown Fire Department responded to 43 calls for assistance in March, 32 of which came to District 1 on Kent Street.

The majority of the calls to the city’s downtown station (six) were due to some sort of equipment malfunction while five calls dealt with smoke/steam and another five for mutual aid.

The station also attended two motor vehicle accidents, one flu fire, one animal rescue and one request for elevator assistance.

As for Station 2 in Sherwood, the majority of the calls (three) were due to equipment malfunction and another three for mutual aid.

Trucks were also sent out to deal with one electrical fire and one call for smoke in the basement.
