SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. – Summerside Police Services has laid charges in a graffiti incident that took place in the city recently.

At around 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of a suspicious person in an alley between two buildings on Water Street. The person was reported to be wearing a hoodie and a bandana covering their face.

Police attended the area and located the person in the alley who was found in the process of “tagging” the building.

The suspect, a 27-year-old man, was arrested at the scene.

The man was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date to answer to one charge of mischief and another, unrelated charge of theft under $5,000.

Police in Summerside have received a large number of reports of graffiti over past months and encourage the public to report any instances of suspicious behaviour.
