One woman was taken to hospital after she suffered burns during a kitchen fire in St. John’s Sunday morning.
The fire was reported at about 10 a.m. and when firefighters arrived on scene at Mark Nichols Drive, they found smoke coming from the home. The blaze was quickly contained and then firefighters made sure flames hadn’t spread into the walls behind the stove.
Platoon chief Dean Foley told the Telegram the woman apparently suffered burns to her hands when she tried to remove a burning pot from the stove.
She was treated on scene by Eastern Health paramedics.
A blower fan was used to clear smoke from the home before the investigation into the fire was left to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.
