BAY ST. GEORGE, N.L. — The Bay St. George RCMP is expected to release more information today about an incident Sunday that had police urging residents of St. Georges to remain their homes as they searched for a man they say was armed and in the community south of Stephenville.

A couple of hours after that warning, the RCMP said they had apprehended their suspect, Todd Barry, and that there was no risk to public safety and that people could leave their houses without concern.

The original notice said Barry, who is in his 30s, was carrying a firearm and told people that if seen, he should not be approached, but that they should contact police immediately.

In that regard, the police had issued a picture of Barry, in addition to releasing his name.
