ARISAIG, N.S. — Teazer paid a visit to Nova Scotia’s Northumberland Strait Wednesday evening.
OCEARCH, an organization that tags and tracks sharks, picked up a ping off a young male great white off the coast of Arisaig at 5:50 p.m. on July 15.
Teazer weighs about 651 pounds and is 10-feet, nine inches, and is considered to be a sub-adult. Teazer is named after a ghost ship, called the Young Teazer, which according to lore, returns to the Mahone Bay area every year.
Teazer was first tagged off the coast of Lunenburg in 2019.
“Just like the ship returns, OCEARCH will be watching closely to see if white shark Teazer also returns on a regular basis,” the OCEARCH website says.
But it appears that Teazer was only passing through the area. He was later pinged near Souris, P.E.I., at 11:24 p.m.
According to Teazer’s travel log he has swum up and down the east coast as far south as Florida and has spent a fair bit of time off the coast of Charleston, S.C.
