With no new COVID-19 cases to report Tuesday, two people in the Eastern Health region remain the only two active cases in the Newfoundland and Labrador.

An actor with the TV show “Hudson and Rex” who had flown from Toronto on Aug. 6 tested positive on arrival and went into quarantine before setting foot on set.

On Monday, a man who is a close contact of the woman also tested positive and is in quarantine.

The producer of the series said in a statement Monday that the man is not associated with the production.

“No ‘Hudson and Rex’ personnel are considered close contacts,” said Paul Pope. “He has not travelled in any ‘Hudson and Rex’ vehicle, been on set, or had any contact with any ‘Hudson and Rex’ personnel since his exposure. This incident was contained and both individuals have been self-quarantining and will continue to do so for the full 14 days.”

Shoot for the series was scheduled to begin again Monday.

Pope said the production company has instituted strict measures to prevent COVID-19 spread in co-operation with various unions and with the federal and provincial departments of health.

On Tuesday, Memorial University said it is satisfied with having the crew continue to shoot on campus, with safety measures in place.

The film crew is scheduled to be in various locations in the Bruneau Centre this coming weekend.
