Smoke in cockpit forces plane to make emergency landing in St. John's early Friday morning

A Delta Air Lines passenger jet made an emergency landing at St. John’s International Airport early Friday morning after the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit.

The Airbus A330-300 touched down safely at about 12:30 a.m. with emergency vehicles on standby and then taxied to the terminal. Airport firefighters investigated the issue but were unable to determine the cause. 

The aircraft was about halfway through its flight from Atlanta, Georgia to London, England when it landed.
