A man faces assault, threats and firearm charges following a short police manhunt after an an incident at a home in West Chezzetcook on Thursday morning.
RCMP, with assistance from Halifax Regional Police, responded to a report of an assault and threats at a residence on Mallard Lane at 9:10 a.m.
Police determined that the suspect was in possession of a gun and had fled the area in a black truck before officers arrived.
The truck was located at about 10:30 a.m. in a gravel pit off Montague Mines Road in Montague Gold Mines. The suspect was arrested without incident nearby but police said they were unable to locate the firearm and were still searching for it more than five hours later.
An RCMP news release said a 44-year-old man from West Chezzetcook has been remanded on charges of assault, uttering threats and pointing a firearm.
Additional charges are pending following a search of the man’s property, police said.
RCMP originally tweeted just before 10:30 a.m. that they were searching for an armed suspect named Andrew Delaney, 44, in relation to an incident.

We are currently searching for Andrew Delaney, a 44-year-old man, driving a black Dodge quad cab truck with NS licence GJV 130. The truck has "Undercut Landscaping" on back window.
In the tweet, police didn't specify where the incident occurred but advised residents in the Musquodoboit Harbour area to stay inside their homes or shelter in place and not approach the man. They said the man had fled in a black Dodge quad cab truck and could possibly be near the Forest Hills Extension or Cole Harbour.
At 10:42 a.m., RCMP tweeted that the suspect had been apprehended on Montague Mines Road.
