SYDNEY, N.S. — Over $1 million was raised for cancer care and other needs at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital during the annual RadioDay 2019.
The event is a partnership among the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation, 101.9 The Giant and New Country 103.5. In total, $1,058,021 was donated.
More than $2,928,000 has been raised in the past three years for health care in Cape Breton.
“Having been through cancer myself, it warms my heart to see my community come together to help offer cancer patients treatment at home,” Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation board chair Stan MacDonald said in a release. “The thing that helped me beat my cancer was the comfort of my family, friends and my own home. Now, we’re enabling cancer patients for years to come those same comforts.”
Although the focus of RadioDay was Cape Breton’s new Cancer Centre, many gave towards other places, such as Caleb’s Courage, pediatrics and other important funds.
