Man arrested for impaired driving, fleeing police

Police arrested a Halifax man on Wednesday afternoon after a report of an impaired driver in the Sambro and West Pennant area led to the man fleeing from police.

According to a Halifax Regional Police news release, officers responded to the report at about 2:45 p.m.

“Police located the vehicle in the area and attempted to conduct a traffic stop however the driver failed to stop for the officers and fled at a high rate of speed,” the release said.

Police went to the driver's Kelly Street residence and were able to get him to surrender without incident, the release said.

The driver was arrested for impaired driving and fleeing from police.
